Animation Domination

Finally, they are back.

Your favorite family from Quohog, The Griffins.

After such a long break, "Family Guy" was happily welcomed back into my Sunday evening. Oh you irreverent scamps, how I've missed you guys. Coming with my foster family, back to Sunday nights, were new episodes of The Simpsons and American Dad (there was another show on between The Simpsons and Family Guy, but I won't mention it by name and thus justify its worthless existence). I, personally, was quite disappointed by the little yellow family and as always, American Dad was hit and miss.

So what did you think of this week's Sunday Animation? What other cartoons am I currently missing on TV that I should set the PVR up for? Does anyone know if Futurama is coming back for another season for sure?

Sadly, I missed all the animated shows last night. I don't get it either. SInce this blog has started, I have been trying to establish myself as the afficionado for animation, but I was lax in my duties yesterday.

I did watch some old South Parks, but that ain't first run cartoons.

I am shamed.

I've never been able to get into Family Guy. When it was on the first time I felt like it was one good laugh and then 25 minutes of vague chuckling. I feel bad about it, too b/c I have a friend who works on it. Apparently high up enough that his name is in the credits, but since I don't really watch it.

And I refuse to watch American Dad on principle.

Last night I caught up on the Bad Girls Club - 3 episodes! What a horrific show! I love it! Everyone is so stupid! And mean! Well, most of them. I'm still waiting for Kerry's bitchery to come out. So far she doesn't seem like such a bad girl, so I can't figure out why she's there.

helio, I think we might be able to forgive you, but as your punishment, you'll have to watch episodes of bad reality tv until you bleed from your brain.

I caught the regular fox animated fun last night and was definitely happy that Family Guy has returned. I must say that although I found it amusing for a little bit, the musical number with Stewie and Gene Kelly went a little long for my liking.

Otherwise this weekend's tv use was spent on Wii playing and Season 1 How I Met Your Mother watching...both of which I highly recommend.

Ouch! Mau, Reality TV is like my Kryptonite.

I did watch a full disk of Season 2 Arrested Development. A tear dropped for it's loss. Such a waste of a great show. I blame the public for being so stupid and not supporting it.

Oooh, yeah, Helio - you must watch 'the Bad Girls Club' from now to eternity!

Pour a little out for Arrested Development. A fantastic show. I guess I'm just happy we had it for the 3 seasons we did. :-( Stupid public. And crap like 'Yes, Dear' & 'According to Jim' stays on for seasons & seasons why?!?

I'm a fan of Family Guy but missed it's big return. American Dad doesn't really do it for me, but there was a funny episode about Gay Republicans.

LT thank you for finally getting into Bad Girls Club. It's really awful and terrific. I love that Ripsi has come back to offer her own little take on the goings on in the house as a post game show.

i did experience on of life's little pleasures on Saturday night when a good friend texted me to say that he apologizes for not taking my advice and watching The L Word a couple years back. Fellas, (guys I mean) watch this show.

Not only does it give us a "fly on the wall" peak into the culture and lifestyle of a group of lesbians in Los Angeles, but it also has some very, very hot chicks. The woman who played the Terminator in T-3 just joined the cast.

I mean do I really have to say more?

At 10:37 AM, Blogger Josephus said...

Heroes, Studio 60 and 24 tonight!

At 10:52 AM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

When I was in college, almost all the chicks I hung out with were Lesbians. It was kind of hot and kind of frustrating at the same time. I got a good enough view into their world then... plus Stupid Comcast took our HBO & Showtime away from us. Bastards.

Oh Yeah 24 tonight.

Little Miss Sunshine is coming back from China tonight, so I may have to spend the $1.99 to buy tonight's episode from iTunes because I don't want to miss her return.

I was going to say let's refrain from 24 discussions until I get a chance to see it, but that is just stupid and selfish. If I don't want to be exposed to discussions with spoilers, I'll just stay away from TV lunch.

Speaking of animation, did anyone else except me and my sister watch Cowboy Bebop?

At 11:20 AM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

No JO, but I saw Assey McGee

At 11:36 AM, Blogger Josephus said...

No idea what you are referring to helio. But Cowboy Bebop was a sci-fi anime on Adult Swim for a few years. Future bounty hunters. It was very, very good.

Actually upon further review, there have been 2 reality shows that I could get behind. I liked the Surreal life with Flava Flav, and Dave Coullet, and NKOTB Jordan. I liked that, but thought it was a stretch to consider a failed American Idol bitch as worthy to share the stage with the color man from Public Man (I use that term because Chuck D was the front man) I also like the Ultimate Fighter on Spike. That is a cool Reality show because they get all these guys who are trying to make a name for themselves in the UFC and they put them in a house with no TV, no internet and just weights. Then they fuck around and each week two of them beat the shit out of each other to see who gets to stay in the house and who has to go packing. That's how Reality TV contests should be decided. Who is left standing, and who is bleeding on the mat?

At 11:41 AM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

I am familiar with Cowboy Beebop. I thought you were talking about seeing it last night.

Assey McGee is a new show on Adult Swim that I'm trying to decide wether or not I like it. I;m leaning towards no.

"Public Man"?

At 11:54 AM, Blogger Josephus said...

By The way, OWFL seems to be really effed up today. Just in case you were wondering.

At 11:55 AM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

Yeah totally f'ed up. that's ok. At least we got TV lunch.

At 11:59 AM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

Flav could also be called the "second front man" the "Accent guy" (Not because he talks like a foreigner, but because he ususally just accents Chuck D's rhymes with a Yeah, or an Aww Yeah.) Or just Flava.

At 12:19 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

helio - A little eso-terrorism since OWFL is dead. I am reviewing the 2006 Bonnaroo guide you put together since I have gotten more than a few but not quite a bunch of Bonnaroo 2007 inquiries. It is a work of art my friend. I have sent it out to everyone who has questions. Kudos again.

Yes, fucking blogger apparently deleted my last entry. WTF, blogger? I basically said I've been watching Bad Girls Club from the start, I was just behind.

24 rocks. Looking forward to it.

Blogger sucks. WTF.

At 12:31 PM, Blogger LizTurtle said...

speaking of adult swim, rumour is they're making an aqua teen hunger force movie. did i read that on owfl?

I watched the Family Guy and must admit. I laughed my ass off. "MY BLACK SON"? And he's a NINJA. That was great. I was waiting for the "BETTER OFF DEAD" tie in with the skiing though. How great would it have been if they had had that kid on the ski bike asking for his "TWO DOLLARS" as they were going down the mountain?
Then it was time to catch the last half hour of The Apprentice. After all. That's all you need. Just enough editing to see people worshipping Trump and conspiring to kick someone off the show before they hit the board room.
I waited up to watch Rome at Midnight. Well worth the wait. Doesn't anyone else watch that show besides me? I never get ANY love regarding that show. Joe, how was GREASE YOUR THE ONE THAT I WANT? Oops! That was supposed to stay between us wasn't it?

At 12:37 PM, Blogger BUNN said...

Oh yeah...and EXTRA'S was hilarious too.

At 12:37 PM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

I've heard that rumor Turtle. It should be funny since they struggle to keep a coherent thread going for the 15 minutes of each episode, so to do it for 90 minutes would be hilarious.

At 12:49 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

I watch Rome but i haven't seen last night's yet.
Between Battlestar galactica, The Apprentice and The L Word I have pushed Rome and Extras into my "On Demand bin". I will try to catch them during dinner over the next couple of nights.

I felt bad for the chicken suit girl on Apprentice last night. And that guy who was doing marketing with her totally abandoned her evven though they shot down his idea for the name and she was basically fighting his fight as well.

I love when they said that putting someone in a chicken suit would be dtrimental to the reputation and integrity of "El Pollo Loco". Classic buffoonery.

I caught my first episode of Battle Star Galatica EVER last night. Pretty good. WHAT THE FRAG?!! Did I get that right?
Does anyone care if they bring back Futurama? I never liked that show. By the way, I STILL WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!!

At 1:04 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

I'm pretty sure it's "Frack"!

Last night's BSG was pretty good, but it gets much, much better.

I just found out that "Day Break", the taye Diggs' ABC show that was unceremoniusly cancelled will begin airing its' unaired episode on ABC.com.

Hooray for the internet!

monday is becoming a difficult night to keep up with... maybe i should save some of this tv for wednesday.

I know it's only tangentially tv-related, but I'm so sad - they had to euthanize Barbaro! :-(

At 1:21 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

Poor horsey.

I just remembered my favorite moment from reality TV last week. On "I love New York" did you guys see the guy who lied about being worth $100 million?

Classic.

At 1:23 PM, Blogger m said...

oh.. and i would kill to see futurama being made again.. it filled a nice niche between adult style cartoons (family guy) and kid style cartoons (animaniacs)

At 1:49 PM, Blogger LizTurtle said...

Ha ha! I didn't see that part - I did see the part where the guy came in & was all "I'm worth nothing" & then cried in the stairwell afterwards. And the same part where Amarosa was all "Yeah, that's great that you're smart, well-educated, and have your own consulting firm. Um, can you take your jacket off?" I was soooo hoping she would ask him for his pants next. Hee!

On the Soup they had some guy all in love with her dog & like making out with it & then crying about it at the end. Was that the same episode? WTF?

At 1:50 PM, Blogger Heliocentric said...

Oh, I love futurama. I love Sci-Fi, and Futurama pokes fun at it so well.

While I would watch every episode they make, I don't feel it would be the right show to revive. I mean it was perfect for the turn of the melenium.

At 2:02 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

the dog guy got kicked off a few weeks ago. That show is special in a "My brother is Special" sort of way.

I'm so angry at blogger right now, I don't care about TV.

Watched L Word last night; that's it.

And even that I watched well after the fact. Caught up on a bunch of crap from last week over the weekend and caught most of a Top Chef marathon. Though I watched it all, that show will never be must-view for me. I'll check out the finale, but I don't actually care what happens. LT said it best when she referenced an article she read on the subject: as a viewer, I'll never be as invested b/c I can't taste the food, and therefore, can't pass my own judgments. On Project Runway, I can spot the ugly fucked up shit; on American Idol (though I've yet to watch this year) I can hear crappy singing. But on Top Chef? I just have to take their word for it, therefore I don't care.

I will however be tuning into Top Design or whatever it's called. That looks like good stuff!

At 4:08 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

I've heard that reason for people not liking Top Cheff before, and usually it is with the same bravado as you display.

It is essentially Project Runway for people who love cooking shows.

People who don't like cooking shows because they can't taste the food probably won't enjoy Top Chef.

No Top Design for me.

At 4:49 PM, Blogger BUNN said...

Being a bit of a fashion nut myself, I too like Project Runway. I am after all so "IN".
Thank you for the correction. "FRACK" it is.
Never saw Daybreak, but heard it was excellent. Taye can't seem to keep a good show on the air. And his shows have been good. I really liked Kevin Hill. Now that was a depressing way for a show to go out. I mean, even "Good Times" had a happy ending. Am I right or am I right?
DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!
