you deserve to be cancelled
So i saw an article somewhere on the interdumptruck where they surveyed the virtual populous on which show really should be cancelled... i was pretty damn shocked. Even with such gems as "Jericho", "NCIS" and "'Til Death," the top five were:
The Simpsons
Lost
E.R.
24
and CSI: NY
So what is your reaction to this list? Who do you nominate? and of course

Well, I'm on board with ER & 24. CSI:NY? No opinion. I've never watched that one. But the Simpsons? Lost? Fuck that noise. Yeah, yeah, I know, the Simpsons have lost a step, aren't as good as the glory days of the mid-90s blah blah blah. They're still better than 90% of the dreck that's out there now (see 'King of Queens', 'Til Death'). And Lost is back, baby, it's back. They must have had that survey like 2-3 weeks ago before it got good again.
I would vote for (in no particular order):
1. King of Queens
2. Til Death
3. King of the Hill (seriously, how the fuck has that shit made it to 10 years??)
4. The Shield, so everyone would shut the fuck up with their "You have to see it!" I kid, I kid!
4. (the real one) Survivor: Wherever the Fuck.
5. the Bachelor
I'm sure I can come up with plenty more.
Seriously, how is ER still on? I used to love that show. Then all my favorites either left (George Clooney, Goose, Sherry Whatshername) or turned asshole (Noah Wylie).
Yea I saw this list...I didn't really investigate the link too much, but I would be interested to see exactly how the survey was worded.
I agree with LT on ER...I used to watch it back in high school and enjoyed it, but I can't even imagine watching it anymore.
As much as I really enjoy Lost, I do hope that they end it at the appropriate time and don't let it drag on for years until it is awful.
It would take me quite awhile to form my own list...most of what I'm sure I'd say should be cancelled I haven't even watched so I wouldn't want to judge yet. I did see about 10 minutes of the Winner which is enough for me to vote that off the air, though.
On another topic, did you see the Bible show, LT? I missed recording it at 8, but set it to record when it's on again tomorrow.
Like mau the ones that i really feel should be cancelled are the ones i never watch. there are entire nights of tv that should be cancelled, but i havent seen them.. of what i have watched:
Jericho.. god. please. end. this.. series. .. (i fear i will be saying the same thing about Drive soon)
The Simpsons ... meh.. i could go etiher way.. i cannot think of anythign particularly fun on it recently but i woudl be sad if it dissapeared
King of the Mofing Hill - jesus. who watches this for 10 years.
Montel/Maury/Etc - if you can't narrow your childs father down below six men, you really don't deserve to be on tv. i think we've had enough years of this type of show. let's end them all.. would anyone even realize they were watching reruns?
speaking of maury.. has anyone been watching Reno 911 this season? its been fking hilarious.
God, I keep forgetting to watch Reno 911. Sigh.
I am with you on Lost, mau. I love it, but I heard that the show people want to do like 1 more season, but ABC wants them to do 2. Or maybe it's 2 and 3. Probably more like 1 and 5. But yeah, the worst is a show that's outlived itself. That's why I'm so impressed with the Brits. The Office? 2 seasons & done. I think the same thing with Coupling. And I think Extras is doing the same thing. I mean, it's great - you do a bunch of fantastic shows & that's it. None of this Cousin Oliver shite.
Mau, I had 2 things taping at 8, so I couldn't tape it! But I am also taping a repeat at either 3am tonight or 7pm tomorrow night. I will watch it at some point!
On a semi-related note, I had to go through & delete a bunch of shows b/c my dvr suddenly said "2 hours 3 minutes available". I was all "Crap! I never even saw that little timer before!! And I have like 5 hours of taping tonight!" So I deleted all the Riches. I know, I know. I wanted to see it, but I just don't have time. I'm debating getting rid of the Dirts, since I still haven't seen them. But I'm keeping them for now. I think there's a better chance of that getting renewed.
