poor Jim Halpert
God, I really shouldn't ever watch The Office again.
It's just too depressing to be watching this and realize that this isn' t a parody of corporate culture; it's a direct transcription of real intra-office conversations.
Not that I've ever seen a stripper at work (to my knowledge).
The rest of Thursday night was wonderful as well with:
- a surprise appearance of Peewee Herman on 30 Rock (did his character remind anyone else of the Butler in one of the Scary Movies?)
- Catalina from "My Name is Earl" rubbing her self down with a large fish and some cheese.
- General French Mockery (GFM) on My Name is Earl
- A Kelsocentric episode of Scrubs. (It was scary how much his inner monologue matches mine.
Did i miss anything else on this G-Spot of the TVweek?

Last night, I saw, the smelly rubdown on Earl, All of The Office, all of Grays Anatomy, and Half of Men in Trees. Statements and questions to follow.
Earl: I saw the lady rub herself down with garlic, cheese and fish. I'm glad the big fellow got past the smell and was able to satisfy the girl, but I have no context. What led up to that scene? What was the Green card marrige?
The Office: the last time I saw this, Jim was playing Call of Duty in the other office and the last scene the chick at the end of his row is giving him the eyes. Now he's back in Scranton and she's his girlfriend? What did I miss? What the Hell is going on? I did think the stripper ordering scene was hilarious, both Dwight and Jim calling the historical speakers of PA. Good stuff.
Gray's anatomy: I watched that because Little Miss Sunshine loves it and I was hanging out with her. First off I hate Hospital shows. However I was able to overcome that because, despite being on ABC (I think) it was well done. There was a good balance of drama, action, good acting, levity, and everybody is fucking each other. I won't make it a regular weekly thing, but if I happen to be with my lady at 9 on Thursday, I'll catch it. What's up with that chick's mom? What an Altsheimer's Bitch.
Men in Trees: I am trying to figure out if I like this show. I'm leaning towards, yes. I know that admitting that makes me automatically like 28% gay, but it's got Kubiac from Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and it's got Harry Dunn from Dumb and Dumberer. Plus the chicks are smoking hot. Bonus; Mallory Keeton, Justine Baitman.
Well my fun at martini night at the bar meant i fell asleep watching much less tv than planned, but i caught the Office which was on the top of my list. That's the only show I can answer your questions on, helio, so here goes...
First of all, all episodes of the Office in between Call of Duty and last nights were hilarious, so definitely try to catch them at some point. To catch you up, without ruining too much, I'll say that they closed the other office so all surviving employees are now working in Scranton. Jim has started dating that girl, but him and Pam definitely have some feelings left for each other. There's been some understandable awkwardness because of this. Also, you may have caught from last night that Michael is still in some form dating Jan, which I was a bit surprised by. Otherwise, definitely check out the episodes in between...god, I love that show!
Thanks Mau, I'll take your advice. iTunes, here I come.
Yeah, Meredith's mom on Grey's Anatomy wasn't the most nurturing mother. As much as Meredith bugs me, I think she was supposed to have a pretty crappy upbringing. And dude, it's sooooo not a "hospital show". It's a soap opera that takes place in a hospital. Unlike ER that used to be a hospital show, but has descended into a soap opera that takes place in a hospital, but with less humour. God, everyone on that show is so dour. I used to love it, but I had to stop watching like 3 years ago when they announced they were extending it by at least 2 more years. I had been watching it even though it got bad b/c I had been watching it from the start, but I said 'that's it!' & I went cold turkey.
I caught Ugly Betty last night. Oh My God!! His brother isn't dead! And he was hitting on him/her!!! GAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! Oh, so disturbing. And such delicious fun! Poor Betty. I feel her with the overbearing older sibling.
And then I was driving home & missed the rest of the shows. Which I must catch up on this weekend (two Grey's, and all the NBC comedies).
Grey's was a great episode last night! And don't be scared helio...oddly, it has been received well by both sexes.
So nobody's with me on Men in Trees? SHoosh. I should probably just buy a miata, join a gym, get some hair gel and swear off women alltogether.
HT and I were discussing Men in Trees the other day. And I'm pretty sure we both agree that it sucks. I've tried to watch it maybe two times now...and after 10 minutes I immediatly knew that I HAD to change the channel.
Oh yeah, I meant to comment on that. I haven't even tried to watch Men in Trees. I saw the first 10-15 minutes of the pilot episode & could see immediately what was going to happen (handsome man would fall in love with her & they would fall into bed near immediately, after some lame attempt at Bogey-Bacall banter, other men would have problems with their ladies, she would swoop in & help out, and all the while, random quirky characters a la Northern Exposure would keep things interesting. Folks sure are odd up in the Great White North!). Plus I have a severe dislike for Anne Heche & she just isn't good for that role. She can't project any warmth at all. She's an ice queen, so you might say you think she'd be perfect in Alaska, but that kind of icyness is better suited for LA. /end rant
Earl and the Office were great. I haven't watched 30 Rock yet. I caught th elast 5 minutes of Grey's Anatomy. I saw the beginning of that Men in Trees show and noticed John Amos from Good Times was on it. I really wanted to stick around and figure out what was what but college footbal was calling me on xbox.
I found out last night that I could create my own university. The University of the District of Columbia Dragons (UDC) are curently the #1 team in the country and have won 3 straight national championships. They play at Obama Field.
Does anyone watch Las Vegas?
The actual mascot for UDC is the Firebirds.
I didn't know that until I started swimming there.
Speaking of Firebirds, I remember the video project that Michael was working on at the begining of the Office and that shit was hillarious. He was showing how to do a jumpstart with Dwight's firebird. Actually with the big ass firebird on the hood, I'll guarentee that is a full on Trans Am, but The point is: Il earned how to do a jump start on a Firebird. that was my first car. Damn that was sweet.
"Bush is more dangerous than a monkey with a razer blade"
Thank you President Chavez.
Dwight is a genius.
Or at least the actor Rainn Wilson is.
The way he jumped at the opportunity to hire the strippers had me dying.
He played a great whacko on Six Feet Under too.
In my world it's the DC Dragons and they play at Obama Field.
And we just signed this kid Kinder out of DC who we think will be a star...
Yeah, he was great on 6 Feet Under. His voice was always so smoothly modulated. Hardly any ups or downs, no matter the mood.
To answer your question Jo, no. I don't watch Las Vegas. Does anyone? Although I do love me some Sonny Corleone . . . .
RE: lady rub down on earl
A few episodes ago, catalina got thrown out of the country. Realizing it was his fault (as he was betting on cock fights rather than driving her home from the strip club) he put her on the list and the struck off to mexico to get her back. In the end, Randy marries her so she becomes an american citizen and can continue to pickup after them in their skeevy motel room. Well, at the beginning of last night's episode, randy, incited by the frenchman, gets the courage up to tell her that he loves her. she sweetly replies she does too but later, in a conversation with joy she admits that she doesn't. Joy gives her the advice to have smelly nasty sex with him and he will fall out of love with her and no ones feelings will be hurt. Thus the ending.
did anyone catch isabella rosalini on 30 rock? amazing.
Thanks M. That paints the picture I needed.
Man this blog is really helpful. You guys are great.
Definitely helpful...now as soon as it earns me enough money to quit my job and go watch tv on a beach somewhere, i will be all set.
And Jo, I used to watch Las Vegas and was a fan...it's fallen out of my schedule lately, though...how's in been?
I have only seen a few episodes of Las Vegas. But when I watch I usully can't turn the channel.
I ahve resisited adding it to my rotation because of the guilty feeling it gives me.
Yet I do watch Smallville...
I watched Grey's and the OC last night and caught up on some other crap (Prison Break, Studio 60, Bad Girls, Ace of Cakes). I have a million eps of The Office, Earl and 30 Rock on my DVR that I'm saving for a rainy day.
I watch Las Vegas. I even DVR it. If I never get to it, I don't much care - but usually it's the perfect show to wake up to on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Josh Duhamel is probably the only conventionally attractive guy on my List, and were that List to include women, Vanessa Marcil is very much at the top of it. Molly Sims on the other hand annoys me to no end, and I don't like that she's become more a part of the show of late.
Anyhoo...
I am a big Vanessa Marcil fan.
Do you think that she really makes that much more doing Las Vegas than if she went back to being Brenda?
This is a serious question cause I have no idea how much daytime versus primetime pays.
Daytime is a daily work load, whereas night time is usually one episode a week. So you'd think that the daytime folks make more since they work 5 times as hard, but then you have to think that daytime is a smaller revenue generator, so they don't have as much money available to pay the stars.
I'll be daytime is less because of the money issues.
On that same issue - I think nighttime people get more exposure, and thus more likelihood of making it into movies, Us Weekly, Paris Hilton's company, etc. And making it big as a daytime show star often means you get type-cast as a 'soap star' and sort of looked-down-upon. I mean, what was the last movie (and I'm looking for non-Lifetime here) that Susan Lucci was in? I think the hierarchy sort of goes movies-tv-daytime tv. At least, that's my impression. And though there are a lot of people who used to be on soaps that are bigger now, I think there are very few (if any? at least that I can think of) stars that really made a big name for themselves in soaps, and then moved on to movies. This is my theory, and I acknowledge it probably has huge gaping holes, b/c my only serious daytime soap watching period was 2 years of General Hospital in jr. high.
