Speaking of Cancellation . . .

So it looks like Fox has pulled the plug on 'Drive'. Or, to get cute, 'Drive' has stalled out! Or 'Drive' has crashed & burned! Or . . . well, you get the idea. So to all those fans of the show, sorry, dude. I guess I'm glad I never got invested, even though I had intended to.

Last night's 30 Rock was hilarious. Alec Baldwin is a comic genius. Loved his mother, too ('baby bucket'??). And check out Just Jack as a hillbilly! Hee hee! Oh, I did enjoy that. And Kelly trying to teach whatshername religious freak to apologize & do customer service on the Office was priceless. "I like your enthusiasm!"

you deserve to be cancelled

So i saw an article somewhere on the interdumptruck where they surveyed the virtual populous on which show really should be cancelled... i was pretty damn shocked. Even with such gems as "Jericho", "NCIS" and "'Til Death," the top five were:
The Simpsons
Lost
E.R.
24
and CSI: NY

So what is your reaction to this list? Who do you nominate? and of course
WOTVT?

Tuesday TV

In a desperate attempt to make it not go a whole week without a post on here, I thought I'd throw something up today. Last night I watched Gilmore Girls, House and an episode of the Daily Show.

GG sure did have a lot of Paris being Paris which drives me a little crazy, but I had gone to the bar earlier and was apparently intoxicated enough and feeling girly enough to get all "awwww that's cute" about the last few minutes when Luke and Lorelai had their little back and forth about him finding her a Jeep and wanting to make her bike more safe.

House had his toughest case ever again and the patient actually ended up dying because of their choice of treatment. They made a big deal about the death which m and I were surprised about...this show has been on for 3 or 4 seasons and I couldn't believe this was really the first time they dealt with that obvious issue.

I was quite sleepy by the time the Daily Show was on, but I don't remember seeing Jon stand during the show, so that was a plus (I believe it was Monday night's show I was watching). The one thing I did notice that started to drive me crazy was a blue spinning globe thing on the top right corner of the screen when they were showing clips of things like the President speaking. Once I noticed it, I couldn't stop focusing on it (hope I've now made that happen for anyone reading this)...they really better decide to get rid of all of this new stuff soon.

Soooo what have you been watching? How were those crazy Pussy Cat Dolls last night? Anyone watching Drive? Sick of 24? So excited that Heroes is back on?

Ding, Dong, Sanjaya's Dead!

Ok, not dead, I wouldn't wish that on the kid, but he's off the Idol. And about damn time! Damn you, Howard Stern & votefortheworst.com for keeping him on this long!

But enough of that. How about Lost, huh? Not as good as last week, but still waaay better than the couple of weeks there in late March. So do you think Desmond was going to let Charlie die, but at the last minute decided he couldn't? I still don't get all the 'brother'ing from Des. I mean, isn't it only for monks? And wow, he turned around quick on that religious thing. I mean, living in sin with his new girl reasonably shortly after leaving the abbey? And who else thought that first chick was like his daughter? What was she, five when they started dating? Are you kidding me? 6 years, they went out?? They couldn't find someone who looked like she could have been through puberty before they started going out? And who was that chick in the flight suit? I feel like I'm supposed to recognize her, but I don't.

House's Toughest Case Yet, Stupid Computers and Jon Stewart Standing?!?

Okay, so the commercials claiming that every new episode of House contains his 'toughest case yet' are a little much for me, but I really do enjoy the show. Every episode follows basically the same plot, but it manages to hold my interest. Last night was another enjoyable episode.
After that, m and I went to watch the Shield and "oooooh no!" the silly computer was planning on recording the episode sometime today instead of last night, so we'll have to watch that at some other point. That was quite disappointing. Instead we watched Gilmore Girls which was fairly enjoyable, but nothing too exciting. I thought it was quite weird that they made a big deal about Logan coming to the house after he's been dating Rory for what seems like forever. Is there an explanation for that? Some episode I missed in the past when he refused to step foot in Stars Hollow?
I also saw the Daily Show during which they explored a new part of the set where Jon Stewart STANDS…I hate it even more than the main part of the set. Didn't they test what people would think of all of this??
Anyway, what did you watch last night? How were those crazy pussy cat dolls? Anything else good on?

Hello? Anybody?

I'm a little concerned about the health of our lunch-loving community, but I'm going to push on. Has anyone else checked out Drive? It feels very much like a summer show, and I predict a quick, pre-finish line death, but, so far, I am along for the ride. Of course, I'd watch Nathan Fillion read the phonebook.
So, what's on tap for tonight? Those wacky Gilmore Girls are finally back. And, of course, there's the mystery of Sanjaya's next hair-do.

Lost Rocks!!

Last night, Lost finally returned to form. Some questions were answered, others were raised (naturally), but most importantly, some questions were answered. God, finally! Excellent, excellent episode.

And yay Friday Night Lights! Another excellent episode. I'm a little sad, though. It felt like a series finale. I have a bad feeling they won't be bringing it back in the fall . . . :-(

Pussycat Travesty!

I can't believe they got rid of Anastacia. She was like a goddess!! And boo, they kept Chelsea over her?? Seriously? This show has lost all credibility for me! And, man, Asia drives me up the wall. Why does she think that pearlized pink lipstick is a good look for anyone? Especially since 1987? Of course, she wasn't born until like 1989, but my god. And she has those little rat teeth up front & does that annoying thing with her fingers on the mike. What is up with that?? I have a feeling that Melissa R (I think R? the one who got immunity last night) is the one that's going to win it all. She's kind of been under the radar & if it's true that the lead singer is leaving, then she's a good one to take her place b/c she's little mini-me.

Bad Girl's Club! Every week Aimee reinforces my belief that she's a skank-ho beyotch. Why would she kiss Tomik? Seriously, that guy is a man-whore & she's trying to make herself out to be a better person than Zara "I would never make out with him sober." Hypocrite! And doesn't she have a boyfriend? How much longer is this show lasting? B/c I'm getting kind of bored of all of them. Yawn! Every show: Zara feels left out & wants attention, Aimee's a hypocritical bitch, and various other people get into manufactured drama.

Catching Up with Old Friends

The pre-sweeps downtime continues. The only "new" thing on last night for me was How I Met Your Mother. A solid, but not classic episode. The highlight of my tv-viewing, however, was the pilot episode of The O.C. Soapnet is now re-showing the adventures of the Cohens and the kid from Chino from the beginning. Yay! Ah, how they've all changed. Summer was a raging bitch, Kiki was still hitting the bottle, Ryan looked freakishly young, and (most shocking of all) Marissa still had some meat on her bones! But Sandy's eyebrow's were just the same--good to know some things never change.
Tonight, I'm pretty sure the only thing on is American Idol. April sucks. Anybody got any other suggestions?

When there's nothing on TV

I watch old tv series

At the suggestion of a friend named juicy, I watched the first season of HBO’s “Rome” this weekend. It was so good and I think you will like it too..

Well you’ll like it if you are into uncessary gore, nudity and character development. If you like history than you don’t even need to enjoy all three of the previously mentioned sale points.

So this made me wonder (wonder, little star) what other series I’m missing? Any suggestions of series that are amazing but maybe short lived?

Here is my must watch list:
The Shield (season six just started, but watch it from the beginning)
*Centers around a small task force of cops outside of LA. They are kinda dirty cops and kinda noble and do some pretty f’d up shit to get the job done. Amazing acting and the camera work is just unbelievable.
Rescue Me (start from the beginning)
*Denis Leary’s series about a recovering alcoholic, irish, firefighter (surprise) in NYC. It swings between inner-child-beating depressing and unadulterated hilarity. Do not watch if you are a manic depressive
Arrested Development (watch it at least 2x)
*The “normal” son comes back to rescue his family’s failing real estate business. The funniest show ever on TV. (includes david cross)
Nip Tuck (I’m sure we’ve all seen these)
*Plastic Surgeons in Miami Beach (?) that love making people look sexy and sexing up the same people. I used to watch this because it made me feel better about my dysfunctional relationships.
Firefly (you don’t have to be into scifi to enjoy it.. really.. I swear)
*Space travel + Pirates + Evil Big brother + sexy. It kinda reminds me of if there was a comedic series about Han Solo. Not necessarily a comedy but it’s pretty funny for the genre.

Roots

I'm bummed. I just read in the paper that the channel TV One is broadcasting Roots starting on Sunday, but I don't think I get that channel on Dish. However, it has inspired me to add that to my Netflix list, as I've never seen it. I read the book, though. Wow. Anyone planning on watching?

How is Sanjaya still on? Howard Stern (the radio guy, not the creepy svengali lawyer guy) has amazing powers of direction!

Grrrrrr Ridiculous Storylines

Okay, so I haven't commented much on here lately and when I tried to do so yesterday I was super smart and commented on Friday's post. Oooops. So LT, if you read this let me know what Tudors is about :-) Last night I watched 24, Prison Break and the Riches.

Prison Break made me yell at my tv. I felt like there were so many parts of last night's episode where they could have come up with a semi-realistic (that term is getting pretty meaningless on this show, though) way to do things, but chose not to. Sara had a way to call Michael, but instead they had her randomly show up at the new boat that even he didn't know about before the kid got it for them. They also decided to jump off the boat and run into the woods instead of just driving away in their boat when the cops came.

This show has convinced me it's totally probable to escape from prison and have a hugely elaborate plan tattooed on yourself. Why can't we just level off on that level of absurdity?? Why do they have to keep pushing the storylines to not make any sense?? I do understand that they're looking for ways to make the show go as long as possible, but it's really just getting insane. There have been parts I really have liked about this show...I just wish they didn't make me so angry at the rest of it...
