Bedtime Stories
I don't like to get all riled up on Sunday nights. I need a little quiet time before starting the work week (or, in my case this week, continuing the work week after having to work this weekend). So, I need my Sunday-evening to be less than thought-provoking. Which is why I did not watch Battlestar Galactica last night. If anything is going to get me all riled up, it's a bunch of Cylon attacks. Or the continuing love lives of Apollo and Starbuck. Or whatever metaphor for the war in Iraq or global warming or the Bush administration the writers have cooked up this week. Wonderful show, just not a good bedtime story.
Which is why, after watching episodes of Nigella Feasts and Ace of Cakes previously recorded on my DVR, I caught up with the folks on Brothers & Sisters last night. Yes, it's a nighttime soap opera, but everyone's really pretty and has nice clothes and houses and nothing really bad ever happens and it's often pretty funny. All of this means that it's perfect bed-time viewing. I slept like a baby last night, thanks to that crazy Walker clan.
So what did you watch last night? What's on tap for tonight? Me? If all goes as planned, I'll be enjoying my recording of Battlestar, followed by Heroes live, and a little calming nightcap of my recording of How I Met Your Mother.

Well, the TV in my room has begun to malfunction. Only the picture on the bottom half of the screen comes through. I am reduced to half watching the history channel in my room, so I asked my ancestors would do, and I continued reading my book.
However I did see the Gators on TV this weekend. It was great, that was my favorite TV of the last few days.
I also saw much of Men in BLack, and just a bit of MIB II in spanish which was on at the same time.
I missed all of the Fox line up last night, but my book was exciting and I'll be ok with having missed the first runs of simpsons and family guy... they'll be on some Thursday afternoon soon enough.
Tonight is all about 24. I'm probably heading over to the Grab Bag residence to enjoy both hours. Yeah I said it. 2 hours of 24 tonight.
Last night I caught the Simpsons. Best lines: "How many wives are you taking?" "Just one." "What are you, gay?" I didn't catch Desperate Housewives, b/c I was driving home from mummy & papa's house (after a fabulous peking duck dinner. For reals, my mom cooks better peking duck than the chinese.) so when I got home I watched the 2nd of 2 'Flip This House's that I had recorded. This followed the San Antonio Montelongo's. I like them. Well, actually, I like the one brother. The main brother seems like kind of a dick, but the younger (assuming he's younger) is great. I have a little crush! Tee hee!
And then I watched the weather report & prayed for big snow & big ice tonight/tomorrow/tomorrow night. If Mother Nature helps me out I will a) catch up on my tv, b) get 2 snow days! B/c I didn't really enjoy my days off last week.
I've been watching the first season of Lost all weekend. Stayed up until 5am sat. night and then 4ish last night...oy. Is the second season out on dvd yet?
We watched Simpsons and Family Guy, then I watched Battlestar and The L Word.
I am falling behind on Rome.
I'll watch Extras tonight.
and you owfl folks should head over to the new site and give it a test drive.
Oh, Lady A, the 2nd season of Lost has been out since before the 3rd season started!
Ah, Extras. I'll have to netflix that. I saw a clip from the show with David Bowie & I was dying just from the clip. "Sad little fat man!" Ha ha ha ha! Who knew David Bowie was so funny.
I've never gotten in to Lost. all i ever hear about it is that people can't stop watching it, but I never hear people saying that it's any good, just addictive.
It's like getting drug advice from your school's D.A.R.E. officer.
You don't hear anything good about getting high, but you know there's something to it or else all those people wouldn't be doing it.
lost is addicting, but i'm definitely not as into it as some people are. what i am currently addicted to is How I Met Your Mother. m and i watched about 15 episodes this weekend! (we had never seen the 1st season or the very beginning of this one) Who would have ever thought Doogie was ever going to make a comeback...
Last night I watched the L Word, and caught up with The Hills.
I don't know what this Extras business is.
Also, I think it's possible that I've lost my taste for the sitcom. I have hours and hours of The Office, 30 Rock, and My Name is Earl on my DVR, as well as Knights of Prosperity - which are all funny enough, I just don't have much desire to sit down and watch. I think this is why I've never watched that Mother show. And I really like Doogie and Willow, but another sitcom? I can pass.
Plus, you can't watch 1/2 hour shows in real time, unless there's another one to fill out the rest of that hour.
I'm so excited for 24 tonight. I'm going to go home & start making pizza immediately so I can enjoy a hot pie as I watch. I never got around to making/getting my pizza this weekend, so it's been delayed a couple of days, but oh, it's going to be soooooo good. I'm thinking about putting boursin on it. Oops, sorry, I got sidetracked. So 24 tonight! Woooo!
You make an interesting point, HT. I think I catch up a lot easier on the sitcoms than the hour-long shows b/c I feel like it's a lot easier to sit down & watch a 1/2 (or 20 min., maybe, ex ads) show than it is to watch an hour. An hour is such a commitment! And if you get home just 15 min before your next show comes on live, you can squeeze most of a sitcom in there, whereas Grey's Anatomy? It took me 3 weeks to catch up. And that was mostly b/c I was home sick on Tuesday.
I haven't watched 24 since the beginning of the second season...I kind of feel like it has a Die Hard complex. Like who the hell has shit like that happen to them over and over again?!
I don't see Prison Break in the TV Guide tonight...WTF???!
2 hour 24 tonight, baby!!
And yes. I have been watching it from the start, but it is a little ridiculous. And it's not even getting ridiculous. It's been there for several seasons.
