Orlando Jones as a Gay Man?
That's right, that 7 Up guy is back on TV. Now he's playing the gay half brother / estranged son on Men In Trees.
I like that guy, he makes me laugh, even when he's trying to be serious. It's cool for a guy who got his start in the commercials to get a job in the real media.
So there was an uncomfortable wedding, a women's wrestling league with half sister baby carrying, a ferry disaster, and a divorce made final last night. But I only saw Earl, Office, Gray's, Men, and 30.
What'd you see, How did that make you feel?

Also, as a side topic, I'm sure there are dozens of people who were in commercials when they were younger then made it to the legit media. Can you think of any folks like that?
Joey Lawrence?
I haven't seen Men In Trees so I can't comment on that, but I did see the NBC lineup...Earl, Office, Scrubs and 30 Rock. I didn't think any of the episodes were bad and I definitely laughed, but overall I didn't walk away thinking "wow that whole show was hilarious" which I usually do with at least 1 or 2 of them...or maybe the wine from last night washed away the funny memories...
I don't think I'll be any help on the commercial question. I'm so bad reckognizing people that were on tv years ago...half the people I work with could have been the cast of Charles in Charge and I'd have no idea....
I generally see the first half hour of Men in Trees. that's fine for me. it's Heavy on "you know what's funny about how men are different than women?" style humor; light on humor in general; non compelling storyline; no action; decent acting and actors; interesting characters and relationships; heaps of alaska. I was trying to decide if I like it or not, and if I do does that make me gay. I've decided to say fuck it, and go ahead and decide to like it. And if that makes me gay, fine. But I'm not breaking up with my girlfriend.
We're living in the information age. There has to be a stop somewhere on the information superhighway that has a commercial to Pro database.
i agree with mau.. i remember isabella rosolini loves big beef with cheddar and joy's half-sister's-husband freaks me out.. but that's about it from last night.
oh and the lady that played the russian whore on 30 rock? i hate her. hate hate hate. end her career.
i am not too good at the notice the celebrity game although i heard from the psuedoyuppie that the girl who plays Kate on Lost got her big break doing commercials for those adult party lines.
"real women are ready to take your calls... 'i'm hot and ready'"
I watched The Office, Grey's and the first 10 minutes and last 2 minutes of ER (fell asleep). Did anyone notice that Grey's was filmed all St. Elsewhere-ish or like it was done in the 70's?
Tonight may be a movie night..or Law and Order.
Ooh...m and I also watched the Sarah Silverman show for the first time last night...it was quite ridiculous, but entertaining as well. Anyone else see that yet?
I'd like to be seeing the Sarah Silverman show. I just haven't yet. I like rediculous.
I am a big fan of Sarah Silverman, and I saw the first episode, and taped last night's. She is beginning to wear on me big time. I saw her on Leno last night and damn if she isn't so cute and adorable as she spews such nastiness. But the schtik is getting tired. If you want to see her sister do some great work you should check out old episodes of Dr, Katz (Laura Silverman is the secretary) and she's a co-star in the cinema masterpiece Half-Baked.
I actually quoted Half Baked last night at HH:
"Why the hell are you guys spendin' money?"
"Well, you said you gave Mary Jane a pearl necklace."
"You obviously you missed the point of that story."
I watched Grey's and The OC and Lost.
Grey's has me hooked by virtue of the fact that they are tricky motherfuckers, and the first ep I watched at Lady A's had an engagement cliffhanger, so I had to watch the next one, which finished with the previews for this week's "MULTIPLE TRAUMAS" episode - which is a two-parter.
I will miss the OC something fierce when it's gone, though my boyfriend Seth is being mopey, which is annoying.
Lost was "eh" - JJ is going to fuck us, I can see it already. I was recently reminded of how utterly stupidly he ended Felicity, too. JJ is a strong starter, but a weak finisher. I hope he proves me wrong this time.
Helio, I'm still disturbed that you watch Men In Trees.
Fuck that noise.
I ain't disparraged anybody else's shitty viewing choices. My shows are my own.
And I don't watch it so much as it's on when me and Lil Miss are making out after her Gray's dose is over.
Plus If I don't watch it, who here will? Then we'd have a show that's not being reported on.
You're right Helio - you're doin' it for the people. Right on, brother.
(seriously that show is bad and I want to choke Anne Heche)
