DESMOND!!

An extended flashback/fever dream episode last night on Lost. I think it's the first time they focused completely on flashback, even though it was a weird flashback to explain flashforwards...whem.

All in all I was pleased. Did anyone catch anything hidden in the flashback that is worth noting?

The Missus and I watched the season finale of Beauty & the Geek last night and it ended predictably.

Then we continued our American Idol streak which had two clear offenses at the end of choosing marketability over talent. I promise myself I won't get emotionally involved in this show, but it feels good standing with America in my new commitment to staying the course and watching Idol this season.

I missed Friday Night Lights for the 8th consecutive week, but it is safely taped on the DVR.

We eneded our evening watching a few episodes from the special V-Day Cheaters marathon on G-4. Great show.

What did you watch last night?
And what's on tap for tonight?

I should amend something from the post; not that many or any of you watch Beauty and The Geek, but when I said it ended "predictably" I meant the right team won. In fact the circumstances of their victory were somewhat unpredictable because they involved the "geek" on the losing team actually lobbying the jury (the group of losing beauties and geeks) to vote against his team. He believed his beauty partner had not sufficently changed and grown throughout the season. So in effect he voted against winning $250,000. I'm glad I could clear that up for all 3 of you. Carry on.

I got involved in some laying on the couch with my vallentine and trying to catch some Wed TV, but instead we got in to some on demand.

We watched some Amazing Stories. We saw the one where Bruce Campbell is the high school jock, king of the hill, rules the school, but his house is struck by a meteor and he becomes all magnetic. then in the end, the geek girl who he's always turning down, is also magnetic, and they are atracted to each other by the magnets, they end up kissing.

Then we saw the one where Mark Hammil avoids doing any work his entire life, and saves all his junk, then as he's an old and lonely man, he sells all his crap ala antiques roadshow, and he finds great wealth. That's luke skywalker for you. Always his mind on some place else, never on where he s... what he is doing.

Then we got ready to watch another one, but it was Vallentines day and... well, we didn't see much.

Tonight is obviously Earl, office, gray's, men in trees, 30 rock, and the in general wonderful Thursday night line up.

Of course, I won't be able to make it to a TV tonight. I have a swim workout, a board meeting, and a flipcup tournament. So TV will have to take a back seat for me tonight. Please report well for me tomorrow.

Ah, Amazing Storeis. That was a great show. I totally remember that episode, too! Good stuff!

Last night Bonbon talked me into going out to eat at Hops (figuring that was one place that wouldn't be overrun by lovey-dovey types) I watched my team's losing streak come to end, scraping by BC. Phew! We also spent some time commenting on various couples in the bar area. Who would take their Valentine to Hops?? I mean, if you're in high school or something, I could see, but like working professionals? Anyways, there was a guy there who liked like Lurch's offspring. Creepy! And with a date who looked surprisingly normal. Go figure. Anyways, then I went home & watched Lost until midnight. Good stuff. I'm so unobservant. I was trying to see stuff in the background, but my 4 beer dinner combined the lateness of the hour meant I was doing all I could just to watch the story in the foreground. Oh, wait, DID ANYONE SEE CHARLIE PLAYING GUITAR IN THE STREET IN DESMOND'S FLASHBACK?!? That totally blew my mind! Other than that . . . no nothing in the background. Except I was reminded again how much Penny looks like Juliet.

Most of my Valentine's Day was spent trying unsuccessfully to go see a taping of the Daily Show...God I hate ice/snow/sleet storms. Grrr. I will have to get some more tickets when it's less likely to be ruined by Mother Nature.

As for tonight, it will my first Thursday NBC night in awhile not w/ m's wonderful recorded tv (he's out in KCMO for some business fun)...I'm not sure I can watch so much good tv without the luxury of pausing, fastfowarding and all that is good about that...we'll see if I can handle it or if I wait until I go back to his apartment...

Oh no, Mau! What happened? Were you not able to get into the city b/c of the snow or did they cancel the taping? Gah! You were supposed to be my guinea pig!

Alright, there's somebody out there who watches TV like me. When it's on.

Enjoy it Mau, you're of a dieing breed.

Also in TV news, I saw bits of the Michigan - Michigan State game the other night. The result pleased me.

Ugh LT...the taping was not canceled. I had to go to work in the morning and the roads were pretty awful, but I assumed that people in Eastern NJ realized that their towns and counties should own plows and salt trucks and all would be fine when I left work a few hours later. My brother was coming to meet me from Philly and I assumed the same for him.

Instead we found that roads were so bad around lunch time that no one could go much above 35mph on the major interstates. Most of everything not an interstate was beyond awful. My brother got stuck on an exit ramp off of route 80 for quite awhile...no fun. With all of that, we were no where near able to get to the taping in time. It was quite sad...Jon was supposed to be my Valentine!

As for the unrecorded TV, helio, I'm not sure you could really count me in that group...the last time m went away and left me without my normal outlet for record tv, I skipped my normal viewing and downloaded everything a day later. I think it's one of those things that's near impossible to go without once you've gotten used to. I will try my best to live like people did in the "old days" of unrecorded tv tonight and report back tomorrow on how I fare.

What is "unrecorded tv"?

It sounds scary.

Jo, it is quite scary...my parents have it at their house, but I'm pretty sure that's only because tour groups from the local museum come through and see it.

I think I've read too many Lost spoilers b/c I knew already about the Charlie in the Desmond flashback, and then I confused myself b/c I thought maybe Desmond and I were psychically connected.

Also watched FNL, and Matt Saracen, while not my type, is so damn Aw, Shucks Cute with his "Julie will you be my girlfriend?"!

I also caught up on Bad Girls Club. Kerry and Aimee HAVE to go! Hate them both!

At 2:11 PM, Blogger LizTurtle said...

Aimee is the worst, though! I don't really see why Kerry is there - she seems kind of shy & quiet & not at all a 'bad girl'. Just b/c you were on the cover of FHM. Whatever. She's just kind of boring. HT & I were discussing this & I brought up my belief that Jodie & CC Demille (lower left) of Poison were separated at birth. I mean Jodie's attractive & all, but CC Demille is pretty.

Yo check it! It's like they was twins or something!

At 2:30 PM, Blogger HaterTot said...

Wow, LT. I agreed with you, but now I do so vehemently.

Kerry is a whiner. She was so annoying with the whole, "She took my spotlight" thing.

Shut the fuck up you cross eyed wannabe-whore. And stop tying your blouses up under your boobs!

I nearly died from sugar-shock during FNL last night. My awwwwww in reaction to "Julie, will you be my girlfriend," was so loud I woke up Sir Whinesalot. He was piiiiissed.
BTW, Andie McPhee (late of Dawson's Creek) was on Bones last night. Because it was psycho Andie, I was so sure she was going to be the killer. I was wrong.
Tonight I'm stuck at the office until god-knows-when, but will enjoy the penultimate OC when I get home.

At 2:47 PM, Blogger LizTurtle said...

Thanks, HT! That's not even the most alike-looking picture of CC. I know there have to be other ones out there - that album cover wasn't quite there.

Hmmm. I might watch the last 2 OC's, too. Just for shits & giggles. Or shits & yawns? I don't know. I saw like 1/2 the first season at my cousin's house like 2 & a half years ago, but I never saw any of the rest. I'll probably be lost.

Hey, Jo, isn't your avatar one of the Watchmen? Check out the theory of Desmond being one of them (1st paragraph after the '+++'). This will probably make more sense to you than it does to me.

At 3:39 PM, Blogger Josephus said...

LT, have you read The Watchmen?

If not I can loan you my copy.

My avatar is Rorschach, perhaps the only true protagonist of the book/graphic novel.

Thank god for thursday night TV, today has been ridiculously ridiculous. I may need a bottle or two of some type of alcohol.

At 4:18 PM, Blogger LizTurtle said...

I have not read the Watchmen. And I will take you up on the offer. I feel like I'll get a lot more inside jokes (not just here & owfl, but in the Simpson's, Lost, etc.) if I read it.
