Amazing Race is Back!!!

First off, I assume I'm the only one working today, so it'll probably just be me here. Sigh. I'm so lonely.

Can I just say how excited I am that Amazing Race is back? It's an All-Star edition, which should be interesting. I hate myself a little for it, but I was psyched to see Rob & Amber come in first. I wouldn't mind seeing them win, if only b/c Rob is kind of an ass, but he's up-front about it. And for reals, it's a race, so go them. I'm excited to see Charla & Mirna back if only b/c I already hate them (well, not the little one so much, but her cousin is the worst). Several of teams are new to me, b/c I didn't really start watching until season 3, I think. Maybe I caught the end of season 2. At any rate, I don't remember even everyone who I did catch. It's been so long I can't remember anymore. I vaguely remember the older married couple, but remember nothing about them. I should Netflix season 1 to see Team Guido in all their glory. Anyways. I have to say that my absolute favorite part of their casting for this season did not include the hated Victoria & Jonathan. That guy deserves to be left at the side of the road to be eaten by vultures. Ugh. But back to the racers! Interesting to see (no, I can't remember everyone's names) the couple that 'fell in love' after the race, dumping their respective friends to be on the race together. And the blonde beauty queens are back. As much as I instinctively hate them (stupid beauty queens), I did enjoy watching them last season. And David & Mary (is that right? Team Kentucky). Oh, Team Kentucky. As much as I admire them for breaking out of their comfort zone, I don't think they fully understand the concept of a 'race'. This is not a group effort (excepting for the groups of 2 they are in). I mean, that's what sunk them last season. They kept waiting around for their other friends to come. When their friends, the Cho Bros. lost, they (Cho Bros., not Team Kentucky) had some speech about how they were proud of how they raced, they raced fair, blah blah blah. Dude, it's a race. If you're not in it for yourself, then why are you in it at all? Anyways. Given that Team Kentucky already stated they have it in for the blondies, the question is, will this sink them sooner rather than later? And why the hell are they sucking up to Charla & Mirna? My god, suck up to a team that could help you out physically. And all offense intended - to Mirna (uh, the non-little person one). That chick is the weakest, whiniest, wussiest, little princess ever. Well, maybe second to Flo. Oh, and it's good to Uchenna & Joyce. And I like her new shorter 'do! I guess she figured 'keep it short in case you gotta shave it again'. Which was one of my favorite moments of past season. Not the hair-shaving in & of itself, but that she just jumped in & did it. She's awesome.
P.S. When I went to put 'Amazing Race' in the 'labels for this post', 'heart attacks' and 'autoeroticasphyxiation' popped up. What the hell??

Good call, LT.I am also excited to have Phil back in my living room for an hour a week. It's most exciting. I love his vaguely kiwi accent.

Oh yeah!! I may repeat this tomorrow for those who might miss it (especially GG). In 'Music & Lyrics' (that Hugh Grant - Drew Barrymore movie), the George Michael-esque figure from the band 'PoP' (hey, sort of like PeeP with the odd capitalization) That Hugh Grant's character was the Andrew Ridgeley-esque charactor to, is the quadripalegic former start quarterback from Friday Night Lights!! And in spite of the weird dance moves & bizarre hair & freaky new-wave 80s wardrobe, he is HOTT.

Or maybe I'm just stuck in the 80s & am inappropriately attracted to a boy half my age.

Well, at least is older than my little brother, so it's not that disturbing. A 27-year old playing a high school student! Shocking!

Wasn't Dillon from 90210 like 30 when that series started? I'm pretty sure that Gabrielle was at least 35. Girlfriend was old.

The closest I've ever come to watching the Amazing Race was playing the DVD game w/ m's parents. The game was pretty poorly done (most of the questions were the same from the last time his parents had played it), but m and I won so that's all that matters. Anyway, everyone who watches it seems to be a big fan...maybe I'll have to check it out.

This weekend I didn't watch too much tv, but I did watch the pilots of both FNL and Dirt. I was more of a fan of Dirt than FNL, but found both fairly enjoyable.

Oh and LT...the younger sibling rule seems to apply in most situations so I'd say you're definitely safe to appreciate Scott Porter's good looks.

Phew! Thank you Mau. Yeah, I always figure if they're older than my little brother then I'm safe. It's confusing though, what with him playing a high schooler. Oh it makes me ashamed . . . .

I never played the Amazing Race game, although I think I asked for it for Christmas. That's disappointing to hear about it!

And yeah, you should totally watch it. It's an awesome awesome show.

Eh, I wouldn't worry too much about how old he is on TV...in your heart you know he's not actually a high schooler.

As for the game, I suppose there might be a way to make sure it doesn't repeat the questions quite so frequently.

Otherwise I have nothing to say other than I hate everyone who is off today and I wish I could be home watching tv on my couch!

Although I'm meant to be off today, I'm trapped at the office. Stupid job. Thanks for the FNL heads up LT. I was planning to see the movie anyway, but that's one more reason.
My rule for younger man lusting (not dating, mind you--that has a higher age limit) is that if they can legally buy me a drink, I don't feel like a pervert on a playground. Which means it's okay that I find little Matt Saracen totally huggable (dude's 24!)

I just watched the worse tv show ever.

"The 1/2 Hour News Hour" is FoxNews' answer to the Daily Show.

The main diffences are that it isn't daily and it isn't funny.

I watched it so you won't have to.

Oh Jo, you are such a martyr. I am trying to decide if I want to see it once, just so I can then say I've seen it & don't find it funny. So I will be immune to "How do you know if you don't try it?" criticism. Ugh. Ann Coulter & Rush Limbaugh? Trying to be funny? Seriously?? I got to listen to my parents talk about it. Not sure if they'd seen it yet, but ugh, I'm sure they will soon. Andy Rooney damn near ruined my dinner last night by talking about the Iraq War in unflattering terms - I was at my parents & they started going on about stuff. Argh. I hate talking politics. I am really living in the wrong city.

Anyways. I'm sure it won't be funny, but will be stupid & obvious potshots at 'liberals', i.e. anyone who is less conservative than Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, etc. AGH!!!

Thanks for taking one for the team Jo! The best review I saw of the show said "In a nutshell: It isn't terrible.", but it sounds quite terrible to me. I may have to go with LT and see it once just to have seen it...

I think comedian Joe Rogan is a little crazy. But I also think he's funny as shit. I don't know if I have ever laughed as hard as I did whenI listened to the audio commentary for the dvds of "Newsradio" (great show) and Joe said that he had always joked that his next show would be title "Joe Rogan Gets Paid" (his next big gig was hosting Fear Factor cha ching!). Anyway he had a priceless recent encounter with fellow comic Carlos Mencia about stealing jokes from other comics. It's very good. Check it out.

Aw, I always liked Joe Rogan on Newsradio! That might be worth Netflixing just for that commentary. I sort of stopped watching after Phil Hartman died. I tuned in for that first episode without him, but I sort of lost interest after that.

Aw yay Newsradio. I haven't thought about that show in forever...I used to be quite a big fan.

I'd love to take a look at the video but I've already got one firewall violation message today :-/ Have to remember to check it out when I'm at home later.
