But I did finally catch up on Grey's Anatomy & a) Izzie is a jackass & b) Mmmmm . . . Kyle Chandler. I'll get a triple-dose this week (assuming they have more of him on Grey's this week).
It did indeed - part II of III ends with Mere 'waking up' & having Kyle Chandler & Denny hanging out & she's like 'am i dead?' & Denny's all 'oh yeah!' like the KoolAid guy. But c'mon, her name's in the title. They can't kill her off! What happened to seeing your loved ones in the light at the end of the tunnel? I know she & Kyle had some flirt going on, but she didn't even know Denny. Oh right, she had a miserable childhood & her mom's not even dead yet.
I think they could easily kill her and have her narrate from beyond the grave. I would have undying respect for that show if they killed her.
I watched Prison Break - which was freakin' awesome last night; so much happened; it was great; then Heroes, then Studio 60 then the Hills. I need to catch up on L Word from Sunday.
Tonight is CW night, though I don't anticipate being home until after Veronica Mars. I'm finding myself a little irked at the writers for continually tearing LoVe up. It's silly - they should just be together. Until someone cuter, with wittier banter comes along to woo Ms. Mars.
I could however get behind a Weevil/Mars lovematch. THAT would be fun.
I would be super-impressed with GA if they killed off Meredith. I doubt it'll happen, though.
Ah yes, Studio 60. Why do they only have 3 (4?) writers? My god, no wonder they can't put a show together. And in the flashback there were like a million people! WTF? Too cheap to spring for a few extras to sit around the writer's room?
No, LT, that's b/c they all left with Ricky and Ron. Only two stayed (the girl and the white guy). They got the black guy when Matt and Simon went to the comedy club to see some other black comedian.
Plus, Matt hadn't been using any of the writers when Ricky and Ron were still there, he was writing the whole show himself. When everyone left, they sort of resolved to just have a handful of them. Which I believe corresponded nicely with the whole "cut the budget" mandate.
C'mon - everyone knows Sorkin isn't sloppy. Everything is for a reason.
On Studio 60 all the writers quit to go work on a sit-com called "Peripheral Vision Man". And not to nitpick HT, but the white guy on the writing staff actually was hired after the other writers left to supervise the two young kids. He was a former staff writer who had a big personal tragedy, (his wife and kid were killed in an accident). Chandler and Josh hired him to whip the kids into shape and as a "mitzvah" (a good Jewish deed). He's also Mark mcKinney from the Kids in the Hall and in real life helps Sorkin write the Studio 60 skits.
BTW Studio 60 is being shelved for a few weeks (months?) so NBC can launch something called "The Black Donnellys" (from the commercials I saw no black characters, so cruel of you NBC...). It doesn't look good at all, and I'm sure it is done much better on the Showtime series "The Brotherhood".
I hate blogger. That Nichole bitch keeps popping up.
Yes, Jo - I remember now. You're correct.
The Studio 60 hiatus is indefinite. (I was just reading about this on Wikipedia) Myself, I'm looking forward to the Black Donnellys. I could never get into Brotherhood, though I tried. I might have to give that another go. I don't think I'll like the BD's as much as I like Studio 60, but I know I'm in the minority in liking Studio 60 at all.
HT, like you I had a hard time getting into Brotherhood, but I happened to catch the season finale and it was very, very good. I have since seen a few more of the episodes and I like it alot.
Oh, I know the story of why there are only the 3 writers, but I think it's stupid. And, thank you! Aha moment! I knew I recognized that guy, but I couldn't figure from where. He's so much more calm & less funny than on Kids in the Hall. I guess losing your wife & child will do that to you. Some of the skits they come up with are better than the real SNL. Like that one with Santa & Chris Hanson? Priceless! "Well, that's what I do."
Jo, they are as black as you are irish, so go figure. You were like their anti-inspiration!
I'm finding it a lot easier than I thought to get over Studio 60's death...
On to a REAL crisis: American Idol begins it's live show and voting phase tonight. two hours every tuesday and wednesday and another hour of kicking people off on Thursday. The missus and I have remained perfect in watching all of the prelim episodes but it is definently fish or cut bait time tonight. As much as I want to stand by the rest of America I don't know if we can keep this up.
Do any of you have any words of wisdom? Have you been down this road before (it's our first time)? Should we get out now before going completely mad?
Ah Jo. Yep, it's hard. Around this time is when I've stopped watching the past few seasons. Season 3 I stopped b/c it was so obvious that Fantastia was going to win (oh yeah, did I call it during week like 3 or something!) so it was pretty boring. And I haven't really watched it since then. I might actually tune in this time.
Jo, if it's the time commitment that's getting to you, tune in for the last 5 minutes of each show. You'll get the recaps of each singer & seriously, that's all you need to see of the results show. The rest is just filler. If it's the fact that you haven't missed a show, well, I can't help you there. I'm not a psychiatrist trained in OCD.
Thanks for the insight LT, I thought about dvring Idol, but I already have shows in my rotation that will conflict. Let's see how tonight and tomorrow go...
Oh, another option (one that goes for many, many shows), is to just read the recap at Television Without Pity. It is the best site EVER. Also a huge time-waster, so be forewarned.
I didn't watch any new TV last night, so I'm trying just to skim and not ruin anything good for myself...there shall be lots of good tv stored up when m gets home and I'm very excited.
I will also not be watching any tv tonight...because I'm going to GAME NIGHT with people from work. This is about the dorkiest thing I've done in my entire life...a group of people I work with get together every 2 months or so and play those games you buy in one of the game stores in the mall. I'm a fairly big fan of games, so that part is okay, but they play IN THE MALL! In a section of the food court! It's really quite ridiculous...luckily the area isn't right in the middle or anything, but everyone who walks passed definitely stares at us. I've gone a few times with m just becuase it's so ridiculous and this time I'm going because two of our younger more normal coworkers were guilted into going and are dragging me along. Aren't you all jealous??
Huh. You had me until 'in the mall'. I love games. But not out in public. Well, except for the penis game, but that has to be played in public, by definition.
Isn't it great, Jo? I hadn't even realized it was linked here! I should open my eyes once in awhile. I just caught up on TWOP Grey's. So I am all caught up now. Except for the preview of next week b/c my f'ing dvr cut off.
I celebrated President's day by saying farewell to Arrested Development. I watched the last 5 episodes on DVD. What a crime that they shut that sucker down.
Then I saw 24. I hate to say, but that show's starting to lose me. I mean it was great when me and Grab Bag used to get all high and get together to watch it, but now that me and Mary jane broke up, we don't get together as much as we used to and what used to be a great adventure ride is now tv that I watch cuz it's on. I mean the whole family drama is not apealing to me, and I'm fairly certain that I'v had to deal with plots against the president before, as well as middle easterners and russians. Oh and didn't we already deal with nukular bombs too?
The best thing I saw last night was the True Hollywood story of Seinfeld. That was a TV show about a TV show about nothing. Great TV.
JO. At HH last week I mentioned to you the brillince of Andre 3000's Class of 300 on the Cartoon network. Set your DVR to catch two or three episodes and tell me what you think. I love it.
Yeah . . . I defend 24 to non-watchers, but in reality, it's totally repetetive. Ah well. The only new thing they've done this year is bring some of the baddies back. I have to admit, I'm intrigued to see what Logan is going to do. B/c I mean, come on. That guy was the biggest wuss. Does he think he's going toe-to-toe with Jack? And I'm getting really sick of torture being the answer to everything. What the hell? I liked it better when they actually had moral struggles with it. Ugh.
Yeah seeing Logan with a beard was about the least scary suprise they could have come up with. And the big shocker at the end of next week's episode...Jean Smart returns as his First Lady.

No, I didn't. How was Stan Lee?
But I did finally catch up on Grey's Anatomy & a) Izzie is a jackass & b) Mmmmm . . . Kyle Chandler. I'll get a triple-dose this week (assuming they have more of him on Grey's this week).
Did Grey drown?
Dude, it's a 3-parter! We shall see this week. All I know is Kyle Chandler looks hot in his swat team bomb-guy outfit.
LizT, I don't regularly watch the show, but I thought something explosive happened to Kyle Chandler last season?
It did indeed - part II of III ends with Mere 'waking up' & having Kyle Chandler & Denny hanging out & she's like 'am i dead?' & Denny's all 'oh yeah!' like the KoolAid guy. The rest of the results show is filler, I should have said.
The other option is to not start watching tonight until like 8:45. Then you can dvr past all the background stories, non-singing parts, etc.

I love TWOP LT, it has been in the TV Lunch links since Day one.
I need to start using it again.
Huh. You had me until 'in the mall'. I love games. But not out in public. Well, except for the penis game, but that has to be played in public, by definition.

helio- I taped an episode of Class of 300 but I haven't watched it yet. I'll let you know my review.
24 was pretty predictable last night.
I have to believe that Heroes is kicking it's ass in the ratings...
Yeah . . . I defend 24 to non-watchers, but in reality, it's totally repetetive. Ah well. The only new thing they've done this year is bring some of the baddies back. You mean his Last Lady! Who would ever sleep with that guy again? I can't believe anyone did in the first place. I guess that explains the pills.
